Small Engine Mechanic

Central Machinery Services, Ballarat’s leading Farm Machinery Dealership and Service Centre, is currently looking for a Small Engines Mechanic. The ideal candidate would be able to provide technical mechanical expertise to assemble, maintain, service and repair small engine related machinery and equipment, focusing expertise on the Can-Am product. Assembly, maintenance, servicing and repairs to other machinery and equipment may also be required. All delivered in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Criteria
  • Have permanent rights to work in Australia without restrictions 
  • Certificate III in outdoor power equipment or equivalent
  • Able to clearly communicate with the customer – both written and verbal
  • Current manual drivers licence
  • Able to complete tasks in a timely manner to the required standard
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good housekeeping practices
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Excellent problem-solving ability      
  • Ability to complete required training for the role to a high standard

Key Tasks for the Job

Mechanical Duties

  • Servicing and repairs to Can-Am products and other small engine equipment.
  • Servicing and repairs to machinery of all kinds
  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or equipment users
  • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles, etc.)
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues
  • Perform work on site in a clean and timely manner working solo or as a team
  • Good working knowledge of electronics
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. callipers)


Computer Duties

  • Utilise computer skills to access and navigate through workshop manuals and other technical information sources to ensure the job can be completed to the required specifications
  • Able to use and understand BRP Bossweb after completing relevant training
  • Able to use and understand LMS after completing relevant training
  • Under take required training to maintain compliance with BRP and up to date knowledge on Can-Am products

 

General Duties

  • Perform housekeeping and yard cleaning duties as required
  • Expected to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints etc.
  • Compliance to all health and safety requirements of the role
  • And any other task you are reasonably asked to perform


On Call

  • You are required to be available for call outs or breakdowns outside of normal working hours. The Service Manager will call you to see if you are available to attend the breakdown, it is expected that you will attend to the breakdown if at all possible. It is noted that this is a very occasional requirement, and the appropriate overtime rates of pay will apply

  • Hours: Full time with the opportunity for overtime
  • Location: Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
  • Commencement: Immediate start
